Step One: Unlatch the sliding door.
Step Two: Remove the sliding door.
Step Three: Locate the trip plate setting mechanism. In the photo to the left, the mechanism is the small "L" shaped wire at the upper right corner of the trap. Our demonstrator is touching the mechanism with her finger in the photo below.
Step Four: Push the trap door in and up.
Step Five: Hold the folded trap door against the top of the trap.
Step Six: Reach under the trap door and slide the trip plate mechanism so that it holds the trap door.
Note that the trip plate is now lifted.
Step Seven: Place a sheet of newspaper folded to match the size of the trap floor into the trap and secure it with clothespins on the sides of the trap.
Note that the paper is secured with the trap door in the "set" position (below).
Step Eight: Place a trail of bait from the trap door end leading to a large pile all the way at the back of the trap behind the trip plate.
Left: View from trap door end.
Last, replace the sliding trap door and secure it with the latch. Together we
can make a difference! |
